Substratum builds the decentralized web by leveraging the power of the individual. Anyone can publish, anyone can participate, and everyone is welcome to browse.

From businesses to individuals, everyone can publish their website or application on the decentralized web. The Substratum tools are simple but powerful, and unlike hosting providers such as AWS, you only pay per click.

Unlike providers such as AWS or Rackspace, hosts on the Substratum Network pay per click, not for uptime. This creates an economical and direct relationship between a site's popularity and the cost of webhosting.

Because there's no single authority delivering or monitoring content, censorship and geo-restricted sites won't be an issue on the decentralized web. It doesn't matter where you live or what content you're accessing, everyone in the world sees the exact same content.

Net neutrality laws threaten to regulate internet access by charging higher rates for viewing certain content. All sites are treated the same on the decentralized web, allowing users to enjoy the full online experience without lining the pockets of internet service providers.

Substratum Nodes work like forwarding points on the network. When a user requests a site, nodes use artificial intelligence to find the fastest way to get the information to them. Multiple nodes can work to fulfill a single request, which splits the data into unique parts for added security.

Multiple nodes can work to fulfill a single request, splitting data into unique parts for more efficient delivery. Combining this with Substratum's encryption technology creates a remarkably secure connection, all without VPNs or Tor.

Anyone hosting a Substratum Node gets paid each time they deliver content. It's incredibly simple, you don't even need technical knowledge to participate. Just run your node in the background and make money. The node software even adjusts its output so you can use your computer without losing much bandwidth.

Node software automatically adjusts output based on a variety of factors. If a computer is largely idle, the node kicks into high gear. If the user is watching a movie, the node downregulates as to not interfere.

Anyone who visits a site hosted on the decentralized web will experience it just like any other website. There's no software to install or plug-ins to configure, allowing users to click and enjoy decentralized content on any browser, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and more.

Content on the decentralized web can display on a wide variety of browsers, including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and more. Mobile users can even enjoy the open internet, as Substratum doesn't discriminate between platforms or devices.

The decentralized web is all about independent and open information. No single party has the ability to control what can or cannot be seen. Bad players like child pornography or terrorism can be identified by members of the Substratum Network by voting content up or down. If a consensus is reached, obscene content will be removed.

Substratum's voting algorithm takes a range of factors into consideration before removal, including each user's substrate count, how long they've been a member, and their own voting frequency. This helps prevent big organizations from gaming the system and minimizes the impact of political or opinion-based voting.

CryptoPay works like Stripe or PayPal, but instead of locking users into a particular currency, it leverages crypto conversions. Shoppers can pay using any currency they like, including fiat or other cryptocoins. CryptoPay converts the payment into Substrate, then pays the host in their preferred currency.

The entire process is instant and invisible, and every host can integrate CryptoPay into their website as a payment gateway.
